Monday Morning Hang-over: Give me WAR!
Didn’t get too much of WoWtime in this weekend. So not much to say personally. Ofcourse I got the Podcast up so be sure to check that out. You can stream it or download it from the site and itunes.
Me and Sara had an interresting discussion yesterdayeve though.
I pay 500bucks a month to the goverment. Taxes in other words, and her reply was: “I don’t care, as long as I can live of my paycheck”. The fuse between my two brain halfs broke. Noo not really but it certainly was interresting. Me being goblinish and she seeing the world in pink it turned out in a one side talk of my ranting on not wanting to pay for people that are too lazy to work etc etc. I’m going to spare you the details but it’s nice that we can talk about it without getting mad, just discussing and agree that we dissagree. Now there is a bit I do want to talk about.
Why am I paying then for a website? I’m a goblin and yet I “waste” money on this thing. Well for every post here there is a small chance, very very small chance that somebody will see that they were wrong and start contributing to society.
…
The world just stopped for a second didn’t it? Ok it’s not happening but dreams are allowed… no?
…
Ooooh Fck it… give me WAR!
War against the sheep! War agaisnt the parasites that cost me 39% of my paycheck every month. I’ll force them all to work… I’ll make them .. You’ll see
…
You’ll see…
*maniacal laugh*

I like your new site! I wrote a short article on some useful wordpress plugins you might want to consider, too. I don’t know how technical you are, or not, so this may be redundant.

Thanks Gravity, I’ll have a look later today
Well, just be thankful you don’t make more money then! There are two things in life you cannot avoid, death and taxes. You should really spend your time trying to make more money IRL instead of complaining about the poor/lazy of the world.
They do play a significant role in society as you can see mimic’d in WoW. How else would you be making all this gold in the game without those very same people we pay taxes for. The irony…
You’re so wrong to think yu’r tax money is wasted for the lazy, it allow them to live as any human being is entitled to, if you have to be angry for paying taxes think about all the richs politics who waste your money at best and take a part of it for personal profit at worse.
As most of the time, I support your view on taxes.
I am reading “Free to Choose” by Milton Friedman.
(One of my favorite economist)
And he outline about the problem of welfare system as well.
Welfare system come into play @ US, after the WWII
and He argue that the taxation setting is a “income transfer”.
Which the cause maybe noble, but had the wrong setup.
Yet, the sacred cow is untouchable for any politician who eventually need vote from all people (Welfare receiver as well)
I am curious on how we can combat that as well…
That would be a nice topic…
Why should we pay for that? Why should we give OUR money so they can waste it? I know enough of those “poor” people that drive around in a mercedes and live on bread and water behind the curtains… FORCE them to work. And DENY them the expensive purchase.. SOLVED
I’m Belgian… We are known as the best Tax dodgers in the world…
I enjoy your blog Seth, and I would like to address one of the huge factors that comes into play here in the US whenever the issue of the welfare state is addressed.
Class Warfare.
The poor are told “soak the rich!” not realizing that the rich are those who in fact do provide for them. To the bleeding hearts who read this blog and the above comments, I ask: What was the last job that a poor person provided you?
The concept of “making money” is a uniquely American concept that has been established only within the last few centuries (a relative blink in the eye). Up till then, everything was a finite resource and you simply had to try and gobble up as much as you could find. The invention of paper currency, as well as the advent of the free market created possibility that EVERY person could become rich. Every person has the opportunity to create a unique product, produce it, sell it, and PROFIT from it. Those who would be painted as the “blackguard industrialists” and the creators of all the misery in the world, are in fact those who help lift people up from the misery that is dejected poverty.
Consider the factory worker who makes $9/hour and grumbles about the low wages he is paid and how unjustly the factory owner treats him. As long as it is not a hazardous environment that he works in (a condition that I do think employers would be aware of, as it would improve the quality of their labor force), said worker bites at the hand that feeds him.
Did the worker create the idea of the product produced in the factory? Is the worker involved in the sales of the goods? Is the worker involved in the management of the factory and ensuring that his fellow workers are taken care of? No, in fact it is the “evil owner” who does all these things. And if the worker demonstrates his worth and moves up the chain to be involved in the said activities and takes on a larger role, he has joined the ranks of the “evil owner.”
Economics is by no means this easy to decipher, but when attempting to win the hearts and minds of the government parasites, I find it best to use relatable examples.
Good luck in your war efforts.
