The Junkyard: Where is everybody!?

Tags:

And I don’t mean the readers… I mean the bloggers.

First off I replied the comments on yesterday’s topic, so if you commented, have a look there. Thank you all for responding, which is a clear message that you “like” the blog.

An interresting fact about yesterdays post: I gave the Trolls a “free” pass to bash me and the site… Haven’t got one. That felt weird…

Okaj back to bussiness: What happened this week? Our collection trash is opened and we are looking for those little gems…

A little “self-promotion”: Back to Basics got a second chapter added to it’s guide!

Gevlon had a great tip for people who didn’t use auctioneer too much. Fight the arrow scam by using % quick and easy…

The Happy Scribe is saying goodbye, be sure to give him our best!

Cafeine, smokes and AHfees isn’t something I read regularly but this post really helps Engineers.

And well ehm… that’s it… not more people posting good new posts. (If I forgot one be sure to comment so I can add it – if I like it)

One thing I’ve seen though as leveling my druid. all the blue enchant mats are going to drop. Seriously if you don’t believe me, they will….
Have you used the LFG lately? what do you get when you are done? right a blue item… half the time it’s useless.. sooooo… come on, you know this one…no? The enchanter dissenchants it and sells it. Now you can do 1-3 dungeons an hour while lvling, which means 4-5 blue items (let’s say one each run + the one if you kill the last boss)
That are a lot of enchanting mats people! So my prediction for 2010: blue 1-375 enchant mats are going to drop in price!

I’m probably not going to post tomorrow or Monday (Hospital visit) so let me be the first to wish you a Happy New Year!

Deep thoughts: B2B = usefull?

Tags:

My thoughts go out to the Back to Basics Guide that I’m writing, I’m asking myself Is it usefull? Is it something that people need?

I have no idea if it is. No Idea.
What I do know is that A lot of people had enough of gold blogs. or at least mine. My 500 readers dropped to 250 in the last weeks. I have no idea why this is happening. I do know that the links aren’t coming as they used too. I know that WoW.com is still ignoring every goldblogger on the blogsphere. And I know that the “competition” has thinned out a lot…
Zekta, isn’t posting much anymore, Sarainy has stopped posting (for now) and a lot of the small blogs have dissapeared.

What is this turn around of events? Are the people tired of money? Were they sheeps in disguises? Did we say all that there was to say?
Did they Quit WoW? This could be since the bloggers which I “hang around” with, are all playing much less atm. And shifted from the “social sick” WoW to EVE.

So my Deep thoughts is a discussion…

Why do you think readers are shying away from this blog?
Yes this is actually a free ticket to bash the blog and me… as long as it is usefull… nothing like “u suck”, all comments should be like, ” u suck because blabla”.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation

Back to basics:Chapter 2: Professions while leveling

Tags:

Here we are going to explain what proffesions are good while leveling: money wise.

Gathering professions:
All of these are solid, though they take time away from leveling, if that is not a concern, go ahead and farm away. Also note that the real money will come between lvl40 and 70, since there aren’t many farmers in this lvl range and the mats are free for the taking. (most of the time the price of fe. Thorium = saronite x3)

Crafting professions
Alchemy:
This I would NOT recommend to take while leveling.
It is great for self preservation and faster leveling but the money of it is abysmal. Some sellers here are:
Healing/mana potions. PVP (lvling) characters are known to use these and sell pretty good. I noticed a rise since pvp lvling came out so this could make you some money.
Frost oil Needed for a low lvl quest this recipe can be found in Alterac Mountains and sells slowly but surly.
Elixer of agility and elixer of demonslaying the first is used in low level Leatherworking the other in enchanting and sell very very slow, but very very high.

Blacksmithing
A solid gold maker, though you would benefit from selling the mats instead of the product half the time. Take it if you are a plate wearing character that needs his own armor/weapons and still wants money out of the deal.
Great sellers:
Apart from all the green/blue armor you can make there are some that sell better then others.
bronze shoulders the first mail shoulder item with stats on it, prepare to ask for as much as 5times the mats are worth on the AH the same goes for the first helmet.
mithril items these are lvl40+ at lvl40 mailwearers go to plate and these early lvl40 items sell like candy. Very high price and sell really fast.
lvl60+ with sockets you can make these and make them pretty easily, prepare to get some big bucks from them. Though note that they are slow sellers.

enchanting
This… right here= “epicnes”
All the enchants with stats on them will sell (except spirit on the lower lvls) even the +1 stamina on bracers will sell so if you want big bucks, do it right and get this. take tailoring with it for maximum income and be sure to know what to sell (enchants or tailorstuff) on your server.
Worth wile sellers:
NOTE: all on a parchement !! selling on /2 can lead to utter destruction of your gold reserve
the ever known Fiery and Icy on weapons, not only are these great for pvp they also are great on HEIRLOOM weapons and a lot of ppl take them accordingly.
Weapon/chest enchants without lvl requirements.
(since Heirloom doesn’t like these requirements) they have been in the rise for some time, and I expect them to top out again once the current raiding (3.3) content is done.
Agility/intellect/stamina/attack power/crit/hit
The best sellers under the enchants.

Engineering:
Let’s skip this one okaj? you’ll do good to your self doing it too, almost everything while lving = BoP

Inscription:
This is a half and half one, while lvling it isn’t the best and isn’t the worst.
Worthwile inscriptions to sell:
Minor glyphs
These are still a bit more profitable then the ones you learn. so when you can make these

Jewelcrafting
oooooh shiny….. Rings, trinkets, necklaces, gems do I need to go on people?
literal gems:
lvl10-20 rings and lvl15-25 necklaces
Known fact: turn one copper bar into gold just by creating the copper rings… All the lower lvlones WITH stats sell great. Don’t bother on selling the +hits they don’t sell well. Malachite pendant, malachitering, tigereye band, elegant silver ring all of these sell great
Green gems
The outland ones, they are much better then the whites you can buy at helfire and they sell.
NOTE: the green ones in Northrend sell better uncut since they are used to make “blue” ones through gem crystal recipe

Leatherworking
My personal favorite…
Sells for decent money and sells quickly.
Best to sell
lvl5-15 items: (Embossed…..)
with agi and sta on most of them they sell for 1G a piece 5 times and more a day.
Dark leather….
these are rogue/hunter specified items and sell for a great price!
lvl40+
Dragonscale leatherworking
is the best one here. Leatherwearers (shaman and hunters) go to mail, and the items that you get here are awesome moneymakers!
Scorpidscale….
same as above
NOTE: prepare to hate Outland though the money cow gets really really thin here

Tailoring
Great seller. especially when paired with Enchanting
golden cloths:
all low levels sell really well
azure Silk hood and woolen shoulders
The first shoulders and head in game with stats on them, milk it like you love it. They sell for decent money and they sell fast.
netherweave bags
No need to explain this? cheap 16 slotters = sold!

that’s it for today. If I missed anything be sure to let me know!

Monday morning Hang-over: CoD:MW2 + slow lvling + EVE = baaaad

Tags:

My WoW time this weekend (thursday eve – sunday eve) = 1h….

4 yes FOUR christmas parties, is too much for any man to handle, my WoW time was restricted, and was even worse now that I have bought CoD: MW2 and playing EVE again…
A 38.5 degree fever and work ofcourse doesn’t help.

This all just to say: I am sorry but I haven’t had a lot to do with WoW this weekend.

My “readers recommendation” is very short this week:
Dark Legacy comics one of the better wow comics out there!

That’s it.. All the rest worth mentioning is on the blogroll already.
There is a serious lapse of Gold making blogs (or at least good ones- not claiming to be one of those) and so I’m not going to link a bad one.

I am going to ask you, the reader, though what is the best goldmaking blog you ever read? Leave a comment with the link under the post and let others read and maybe judge it.
If you are a blog writer, link your blog and generate a bit of traffic.
Until tomorrow,
Seth

Quicky: best spec ain’t always right

This isn’t the real post of today! look at the “deep thoughts” post!

I just confirmed that a “standard best” from Elitist jerks ain’t always the best.

My personal spec (can be seen at AriƤni – Ravenholdt EU) is a bit different from the “normal way to go and yet it’s better then the “best”

compare it in rawr if you want too… I promise it gives better results

EDIT: note that with better gear and enchants (since I haven’t played ari in a long long time) the scores go up but my custom is still better…
I’m actually a bit proud :P

Deep thoughts: Christmas Eve

Tags:

Yes I’m late with my “insightful” thoughts. But I really wanted to get the first chapter of the back to basics guide posted on the blog.

My thoughts this week go to the “money-making scam” that is called Christmas… oh boy I’m going to get hatemail for this.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Christmas, I participate and buy gifts for the family, yet I recognize what it is.

Christmas is actually the feast of white. It is a “pagan” tradition of my ancestors, the Kelts and later the “Germanen”. The birth of Christmas was in the Beginning of December not at the end. Now the Church and all its power couldn’t shun out this tradition so they merged the two together, which eventually worked, and we all forgot about the original feast. (look at easter and halloween too and the real meaning of those, and not the choclate, and treats you get now fe.)

I love the feasts, since it’s an excuse to spend time with the family and eat well. Yet As the 16th (ish) century went to the 18th-19th century the holidays went commercial. This has been happening for ages and still does.

(fe. Halloween a traditional English holliday was forgotten untill a few years ago, now all the kids go trick or treating in Belgium. When I was their age that didn’t exist, we didn’t know what it was.. and thats not even 10years ago! since I’m *only* 21, the same for valentines day)

Which makes it worse is that we also celebrate “Sinterklaas” wrongly translated Santa Claus, since Sinterklaas is actually Sint Maarten (helped the poor in Spain) And on the 6th of December the kids get a big gift from “him” (the parents), then everybody buys presents again and we open them up at Xmas eve, and the 1st the children read their New Years Letter and get some money from the grandparents….

You see how the industry commercialized almost every holiday?
It is a fact that a lot of people forgot. It is something that I’m aware of but pay no heed to, since Family is priceless.

My point here is that if you want to get rich or make a buck, find a holiday that is celebrated and yet not commercialized, then commercialize it and watch the money come after a few years.

Which makes this even more peculiar though is that almost everybody celebrates Christmas in the Western World. the self-proclaimed Atheist still celebrates Xmas… the people who grew up in a “Christian” environment (take the term very loosely) and changed believes when they could, still celebrate Christmas.
Because most of us, forgotten the true meaning of it, and I’m sorry to say but as corrupting as the Church can be, I’m happy for it.
Christmas is all about family, no matter what religion, what standard or what color of skin. It is the one day a year where I forgive people from being Sheeps, being M&S.

And you should too,
Go home to your family and enjoy, battle the lowlifes and the cruel – for it is- world again on Monday, but for now…
Happy Christmas!

Back to Basics: Chapter 1: While running around and lvl1-10

Tags:

Chapter 1 will tell you what to do while leveling, what you need to hold in your bags and what not. These tips and tricks are very simple, and gains only a moderate amount of cash, but they are needed inorder for you to succeed in your future endeavors.

Before lvl2:

Before you start leveling the character you want to level, make a Bank alt. Do it now! it will seriously lower the time needed to get everything to the auction house. (and will save a lot and lot of bagspace)
Once you have your bank alt, you may continue reading.

PART1
Into the Wild: General

So you are running around killing things and questing a bit… these are the things you need to do:
Greys: Especially grey weapons and mail/plate. Keep them in your bags as long as possible: Greys are free money, and good money too.
White’s: White items come in 3 categories.
- Food and drink (use: restore ….): if you don’t need those for yourself: TROW THEM AWAY!
- weapons and armor: sell to the vendor asap.
- Tradeskill items: leather, cloth, meat, fish, etc etc: Do not dare to vendor those! if you have white items and they aren’t weapons, armor or food/drink they are worth putting up on the Auction house and they can easily give you that starting gold you need.

Tip: Low level meat is a very very good seller, boar meat, string wolf meat etc, sell for as much as a gold a piece! and those are lvl5 drops!

Greens: Greens also come in 3 categories:
- General greens: (tradeskill items) put them on the AH.
- Gear/weapons lvl1-19 and 38-45(mail and plate only): Sell them on the AH
- Other gear/weapons: dissenchant them and put the mats on the AH.
Note: the lvl1-19 and 38-45 items are great sellers on the AH. 1-19 everyone wants to be decked in greens and wants that +1 stamina. 38-45: hunter/shamans go to mail and pala’s/warriors go to plate, and they want it asap so they go for 40-50G… seriously
Blues/Epics: Sell at AH, don’t wear them… seriously don’t… sell them, I still regret wearing the “bow of searing arrows” on my first ever hunter when it dropped from a hyena in Tanaris.

Tradeskills Everyone says: take two gathering skills while leveling: I say BS!
Getting 2 gathering skills takes waaay to much time. The best ones for leveling and getting a good buck are the following:
- Mining Jewelcrafting: want to sell some easy to make rings for 1G when you are lvl10? for 5G at lvl15 and about 50G when you are lvl20+? get Jewelcrafting, the prices are nuts on 75% of the servers
- Tailoring/enchanting: but don’t dissenchant everything you make. the first head fe. is the lowest lvl head piece in the game that has stats and sells really really well. make sure that you know what to disenchant and what to put up the AH for max profit.
-Skinning/Leatherworking: Takes virtually no time and the gear sells well. (I’m selling embossed leather gloves for 1Gold a piece… and sell it about 5 times a day. easy profit for no time)
-mining/blacksmithing: Takes a bit more time and can be a bitch to level, but it sell really really well… most of the time.

More info on particular items in a following post

PART 2
Leveling 1-10

Ofcourse everything that is stated above is true, with some additions:
1: Get more bags asap: everytime you destroy a grey item, or you can’t pick something up you lose some gold.
2: get your Tradeskill at lvl5… NOW!
3: Important do NOT wear any greens that aren’t Quest rewards before lvl10!!! do not do it! I know it looks nice, But +1stamina or +1strength isn’t going to make any difference.. so whow… you hit for 0.2 damage more.. or you have 10hp extra… gimme a break. Sell the damn thing for 1-5gold at the AH… yes there are people that want greens asap.. they are usually the ones that are poor. Getting that first Gold with one item is a huge step towards the mountains of gold later on in the game!

That’s it for today, almost 700 words so this is getting a wall of text.

Back to Basics: Intro

Tags:

So your new to WoW? you just started on a new realm? Without any 80′s or gold? Here is your collumn: getting gold while knowing nothing!

Okaj since we are starting with basic basics let’s get this clear:
This is the intro, I’ll talk about must have addons, pricing strats, leveling proffesions that don’t take time, resale, price wars and more. Everything a new AH player needs!

The ADDON list – this is a list that I use that makes my banking life 3x as easy

- Easymail (get all the attachments with one click)
- Auctionhousesuite (more info later)
- lill sparky’s workshop (shows the mat price and the endproduct price in your ATSW)
- ATSW (Advanced Trade Skill Window)
- Arkinventory (best bag system out there, search, sort and more)
-Panda (mill everything with half the, dissenchant 5times as fast etc)

This list will get his own post in the future, along with a NEW and IMPROVED AH video.

I’m going with you!
I started a new Character @ Gevlon’s realm meaining that I had no gold (yes 100G from Gevlon at lvl10)
In my first 9 lvl’s I made 25gold.. which is actually a lot when you know that I didn’t spend 1h in the action house, and had no data, no nothing.
For this “Back to Basics”-project I’ll start a banker, give him 50 silver, start scanning and selling. (I still haven’t scanned the AH especially for this purpose!)

Since my “main” on the realm = 19, I’ll talk about getting your first gold before you reach lvl10, I’ll let you know what is a great and not a timeconsuming way to make money out of him and how to get from “one copper” to a fortune.

FREE GOLD GUIDE
Tips, Tricks, strategies: EVERYTHING you get in a gold guide that costs 50 RL bucks… you get it here… FREE.
that and ofcourse me walking right next to you… all the time from 1-80 from 1c to 100K.

A fortune starts with one copper.

EDIT: a lot of typos

hang-over

December 21, 2009

Monday Morning hang over: Starting a new…

So I rolled a Tauren druid on te Arwhatver server. It’s been 3 years since my last horde character… 3 years! I love it!

I made about 50 gold selling stuff I don’t need, buying other stuff to level got me back to 1G … well 101G since Gevlon gave us 100G. I have a stock of about 10 embossed leather gloves and 5 embossed leather capes, 100 linen cloth waiting to be sold, And the price difference between my “home-town” server and this one is enormous. light leather is about 5 times cheaper, so is linen cloth and glyphs. then again, leveling armor is much more expensive. (could be that the 100 newcomers had something to do with that)

I’m sick and tired of RFC right now, runned it 10times or so in 2h time. I must admit I was a jerk 8 of those times (2 was when I still had quests with guildies) those 8 I used the lfg tool did the first boss, got the completion, dropped out and used the lfg again, 15mins for a blue, some money and nice xp. Yes I’m an asshole for doing it, but I really don’t care. I’m there for an experiment, not to make new friends.

Starting a banker there too: today even. This means that my blogging plans will change a bit. This is the new *hopefully followed* lay out for a week:
- Monday Morning HangOver
- Back to basics
- Deep thoughts wednesday
- The Junkyard
- Friday eve burnout

All of those can be searched in the category or tags as:
- Hang-over
- Basics
- Deep thoughts
- junkyard
- burnout

This will get the tips and such a bit closer together and more structured. A new page will be created to with links inside the blog for easy use.

That’s it for today here at One Copper, could be I’m writing up a post for When the goblins gone later today.

A fortune starts with one copper…..

Undergeared

I have rolled a druid alt on Gevlon’s realm, And am playing that more then my mains or alts on my main realm.
More info about this later! If you can’t wait that long I’m writing some articles this weekend for When the goblin’s away So be sure to check it out!

I was suprised because there are a lot of people there who also have a blog, Average Joe is one of them.
Personaly I like it so go there and leave a comment.
I don’t have too much to say about it now, the guild is really proffesional, there are no ‘lols’ or random “dings” or “gz” which makes me happy :) . I still have redrawel symptoms of my own guild though and I hope that I don’t ride against someones legs about that.

more info and tips coming later this weekend, and hopefully the podcast too.
