Discussion: Racing to 80

Tags:

I’m going to replace a post every two weeks with a discussion. I want to see what the community has to say. About gold, about wow, about economics. This week a general WoW discussion
Goddamn the man!

Me and a good buddy of mine are racing to 80, which means I’m actually spending a fair amount of time on WoW.

The score right now:
lvl60: He was first
lvl70: I was first
lvl80: aren’t done yet
Me: 75 Afflock
Buddy: 73 Furry Warrior
Now we aren’t comparing time. Since I lvled in BG’s once AV was available(untill lvl58 then from 62 to 68 again), and he went LFD-nuts.

That’s why my lock has Engi-Tailoring as his professions. Tailoring is cheap & fast. And it helps my recently switched 380enchanter lvl up which in turn brings profit.
Engineering, is just for PvP, i love stunning 10 people at the same time. Although I’m throwing goldpieces at them, it’s quite fun. (What else to do with 100K?) Engineering is a pain to lvl but once you can make arrows/bullets it becomes profitable again. Not that I would recommend it but at least it’s manageable (also the squirrel’s sell well!)

Well I’m posting this totally useless piece of info, to get info from you guys.
If you have the chance: look at Damiän on the Ravenholdt-EU realm.
I’m using an Affli-lvling built, that stresses my health, HP5, and periodic dps.
I’m pulling in 8 guys, pop my shield and SoC everyone (lightshow ftw). Then it’s haunt and corr for health.

I have about 2h a day I can play, he plays 4-5h a day. (he’s really keen on defeating me -_-)

So.. I’m questing and do the LFD once a day, and do a quick AV when possible. (does anyone actually paly IoC?)

The Question here is: How would you do it? I would love to see your input and how YOU and the other readers think abou this. Would you still take money making professions? Would you BG/LFD… would you cheat? (use a tank/healer for the instant-lfd’s) etc.

Chapter 5: lvling with gold 10-39

Tags:

It’s always good to know what to sell when you level. So today I’ll go about the basic thing from lvl10-39 and see what are the best sellers.

General TOP sellers:
- ore, herbs, leather sell well, if there are special cases I’ll list them
- fish oil and shiny fish scales for shaman sell well, better as horde though
- pearls
- cloth
-bloe BOE
- enchants (and enchant mats)

BAD sellers:
grey and white gear… vendor them
food and water … delete them

lvl 10-19
TOP sellers:
-Every piece of gear you come across
-Blue lvl17 boe items (twink gear)
-profession gear (JC++)
-meat, seriously meat for cooking
-tin ore => kaching ching!
-Beastslayer is the only enchant remotly selling well

BAD sellers:
- enchanting: low lvl enchanting is useless.
- small glimmering shards… too many of them are around 10silver a pop.. maybe. use them in beastslayer
-herbs, leather and cloth are slow and low sellers.

lvl20-29
TOP sellers:
- Spider silk: 50G a pop
- shoulder items, even greys sell like crazy!
-swiftthistle and wild steelbloom sell fast and high
- blue gear
- enchanting mats (dusts in particular)
- Bronze tube for allaince Quest

BAD sellers:
- mid 20’s green gear

EXTRA’s:
Green gear is better disenchanted and sold for mats from this point on. This is a general rule, and if not I’ll state otherwise.
Shoulder gear is a bit lower in demand because of the BOA’s.

lvl30-39
TOP sellers
- head items, unlike shoulders: only the greens sell.
- blue JC rings sell like a charm
- leather: heavy leather sells high, thought not fast.
- meat and fish, cooking hits a dry spot here. (150-200ish)
- purple lotus sells incredible well.
-Truesilver: whouuuw!
- Frost oil (recipe found in AM) – needed for a quest
-Fiery enchant, if you already have it by now, start making this like crazyz

BAD sellers:
- nothing special

That’s it for today, if you have anything to add: comment!!

Hang-Over: I’m listed!

You probably noticed I took a week off blogging. While it wasn’t deliberate, it did really good. I thought about the blog, and thought about it plenty…
Thought about it so much even, that my mind went back again to “the point”.
The point being: is it still viable to have this blog up? Do you still gain something from reading the blog. Luckily for me, it seems you, or others like you do.

Shayline (TSB!) won the match, since she downloaded an app for the iphone that displays wow-gold blogs, in which I’m ilsted. Better yet even, I’m one of the more popular ones, which must means that I have something to say worthwile, or at least, that people enjoy reading this blog.

Now I also have to tell you that I will skipp the Auctioneer chapter of B2B another week. My work schedule is very very hectic, and my studying is eating a lot of time. And I want to spend my precious free moments with my GF, when possible or actually playing WoW. (Warlock lvl74 … almost there!)

I don’t know if there are any programmers reading this blog, but there will be a seperate link soon to a second blog of mine, talking about C++, or better said the road from “noob” to programmer in C++. The link isn’t up yet since I want to have a couple of posts up before I share it.

Coining gold is also going fairly good, I actually started making gold again, I stopped a couple of weeks ago at 100K (I always stop at 100K no point of getting more) and dropped back to 90K this friday. (dualspec + epic mount + gear + dualspec for my warrior). Yesterday I was back at 95K(!)

What did I do?
- Well first off I still had about 500 glyphs and half of them sold = +/- 1000Gold
- Got 80k honor on my hunter + 70ish on my shaman: got 15 epic gems and sold them for 200G a pop: 3K gold
- Sold a flying carpet to a sheep for 400Gold (laughed my ass off, and I really should have screen shotted it)
- 600G (ish) in reselling… (cloth, ore, leather, meat, etc)

Oh well thats it for today, I’m back, And I hope you like it!

The Junkyard: The Same metal… again

Tags:

I had listed up some links I liked and came to the conclusion that I just cannot share them. Why not? Well have a look at our previous “Junkyard”-entry and look at the blogs there, now look at the blogs on my blogroll….
All the links would go to those blogs.

I’ve said it before the gold bloggers are thinning out and the decent link’s keep coming from the same blogs. So starting from next week, I will include 3 orso links about WoW in general.

Today I’m asking you, the constant reader to post your favorite link of this week here. (even if -big if- it came from my own blog)
I would love to see some reading material I haven’t noticed before. And am sure others will too.

In other big news though: you should go and check out the Armory, it now has a 3D char profiler which is “kind of cool”. Make your biggest rival in the AH stand in the most embarrassing position known to man!

Back to Basics: Chapter 3 -10 essential Addons

Tags:

So normally Chapter 3 should have been about Auctioneer and only Auctioneer, full with vid’s and comments. Sadly enough WoW hate’s FRAPS and I’ll have to make the vid on my other pc, which is currently unavailable.

All in all I think it’s for the best. Here in Chapter 3 I’ll show you 10 addons that can make your life a lot easier as a “Mule”. Do note that all the credit goes to respective creators and that the addons themselves can be downloaded from curse. The list is displayed in the order of importance:

1. Auctioneer (and preferably the suite) This is the meatgrinder of your operation, It does all the work, it gets you average moving price, mats, what’s the use and more. It scans, posts and does soo much more. (Chapter 5 will guide you through all the meat of this huge addon)

2. Postal/easymail: both of these addons do the same. They let you empty your mailbox with 1 or 2 clicks and believe me it will save you a tremendous amount of time. and time not spent posting is time wasted. “Time is money friend” – Goblins

3. ATSW (Advanced TradeSkill Window) makes your life so much easier if you are a heavy crafter with queuing, auto parts crafting etc. EDIT: also gives a “shopping list at the AH/vendor if you want to!

4. Lill Sparky’s workshop: A plug in that works perfectly with ATSW. it displays the mat cost, the sell price and the enchanting mats price. Wonderfull to see what to do with your crafted “stuff”

5. Arkinventory, one of the best bag control addons ever. It lets you sort, search, and soooo much more. if you have a banker or your raiding a lot, this makes finding something in your pile of junk a piece of cake.

6. Market Watcher, love this! It let’s you follow items on the AH and displays a graph for min, max, average price. average moving price. when it’s the best time to buy and when to sell. I use this heavily when moving in a new market.

7. Panda. The dissenchanter and millers best friend, one button for every mill.dissenchant and enchant. and every crafted item of ever proffesion in one overview. Okaj addon overall, but really shines with Enchanting and Inscription.

8. OneNote, this comes in handy from time to time, I “friend” my adversaries, so I can see when they are online, OneNote lets me make notes on them on what they sell heavily, professions, login times etc.

9.Titan gold plug in, this is good if you want to know your total amount of money on a given realm. If your money is spread out over several characters and a bank or two, this is nice to know, yet not really needed.

10. TooltipWealth, last and least, this is useless 99% of the time. but when you see another banker next to you, it’s always nice to see how much gold he has, especially when you are making a move to take over or rip a piece of his market.

If i forgot something let me know!

Hang-over produces Deep thoughts: Changes to the money game

Tags: ,

I played a little on my Warlock yesterday went from 63 to 64 and got some nice worldpvp kills… The first guy that said Death knights are overpowered should think twice before saying that… I slaughtered a couple, a couple of times *evil grin*

What hit me though is that WoW actually doesn’t appeal to me anymore as it used to be, if we look back to the early beta untill now soo much has changed it’s unbelievable that it’s still the same game.
Warlocks went from pvp ownage to sissy’s and back again. 40 mans don’t exist anymore, 3h dungeons don’t exist anymore, you can lvl 3 different ways and gaia can sue your Tauren at lvl20 now when he rides a hawkstrider. And most of the changes are good, most of the changes make life easier, yet some changes like the massive 5mans and 40mans were sad, we don’t really miss them. For every “bad” change there were 5 good ones, and the future holds even more and better changes.

Yet there is ONE thing that blizzard has forgotten, and that “thing” is actually the reason why you read this blog. GOLD, or at least the “gold-making game”.

In the last years, not much has changed, the Auction houses were linked together and the amount of money earned in the wild grew larger and larger. yet the prices of everything stayed pretty much the same. With the exception of the money sinks, like mounts, riding skills and dualspec. And even those are lowered.
The money game doesn’t change for us, every expansion it’s the same thing. Yes with new items, but basically it stays the same ole’ game.
You buy some, you sell some, and thadaaaa profit. You farm some, you craft some and thadaaa profit…

The economy is made by players and they stick to the same “strategy” because it works, and be honest, the economy in WoW doesn’t have much leeway. All the crafted items are the same quality and quantity. (how much you can farm/buy). One out of ten playes has the same skill as you, and one out of 100 sell their items on the AH, the exact same item on the exact same place at the exact same time (read: 99% of always) for almost the exact same price.

Personally I think it’s time to step it up, make different qualities items with more procs or skill lvl advantages. I don’t care what else, just make it different, make it better and more extensive!

In other words,
Blizzard Improve our game too!

FYI:
If the reaction is good on this post, this will be part of a contest this friday. (lootcards as price!)

Burn out: Transport money

Tags:

As the weekend comes closer we look at different ways to make gold in World of Warcraft.
Now I’m here to tell you a way to make money that is, time consuming, boring and just idiotic.

But something you Should know…
As there are more and more people with the great mammoth that can carry multiple people on his back. We can profit from them. Go to a low lvl area and Spam: “fast traffic for lowbies now available! 50G per zone!)

You’ll get about 2-3 responses on a weekly basis that can grant you 150-500G total. Now this is really boring since he’s just sitting there on your mount while you are running around to the zone he needs to be in.
But as this is a valid way to make money, I am obligated to tell you about it.
So here you are, you gained another piece of information about the gold-making-game we all play…

However I doubt that you’ll ever use it in a time/gold profitable way. (or you crank up the price to 150G a zone)
