This isn’t my idea tbh, I saw some bankers do it on my server, and I expanded on it a little bit.
So here it goes.
We all know that monopolizing a market is pretty undo able, we always have under cutters, and buying them out costs more money than you make.
Well… Not anymore!
Thanks to our patented DUMBscheme™
(Death to Undercutting MoneyBankers)

Smaller markets can be controlled. though not for a long time. We all kinda know this already. But most of us don’t do it that much. I like to control the mithril ore market. for a couple of days at a time but no longer then that. most of the time I end up with about 1K profit. only when real “die-hard” bankers get in my way I end up with 0 profit/loss. (I just leave and try again next month)
Now here is my crazy Dumb-pattented scheme:
I did it in the glyph market… oh yes I did it and came out with 3K profit the first week, 2K the second week. stopped 2 weeks and did it again. It works like a charm.
The glyph market is HUGE. You can NOT monopolize it. You can’t even monopolize a single class for long. But… you can.
first off go through all the glyphs manually, see which ones sell fast. See which ones have little competition and remember those.
after a week orso of checking start making 2 glyphs that don’t have much competition in large quantities (I’d say 20-30) and 2 that sell fast and don’t have more then 10ish up on the AH.
STEP 1: Craft 20 glyphs each (total 80 glyphs – 200-400G in production cost)
STEP 2: buy out all the glyphs on the market (maximum of 500Gold otherwise you chose the wrong glyph)
STEP 3: list 5 of your glyphs for 50-60G.
STEP 4: ??? (jk) go and play on your main or something for a couple of hours
STEP 5: undercut any undercutters with 10G (5 glyphs again)
rinse and repeat, as long as your playtime.
now before I’m continuing, if you wake up the next day and didn’t sell 5 glyphs of each one you made, stop producing that one.
STEP 6: find other glyphs that have low competition and sell fast
STEP 7: drop 10 Glyphs at about 105% of the normal value, and leave that market
STEP 8: move in your new glyphs into the new market and go to STEP 1.
This method, let’s you “blitz” other sellers. by selling for a huge amount of money, for only 2-3 days, and moving into another segment. and doing it over again. If you do this right, nobody will know whats happening and you’ll sell some before the competition comes.
let’s say you moved in on glyph of revujination with a normal sell price of 10G.
There were 10 on the market so you lose 100G +50G for making 10 glyphs.
You relist 5 of 50G, and 2 sell before the undercutters move in. You relist again for 30G. and sell another 3. then you dump everything you originaly bought on for 12G.
Let’s say there were 5 of those that sold.
Total costs: 150G
Total gold got: 2×50+ 3×30+ 5×12 = 250G
Total in products left: 10 (enough to to it another time
so…
Total profit: 250G (250×2 – 100x2G+50)
mutliply by 4 glyphs and you get 1K in profit in the first week.
Do note that you can’t do this on the same glyphs more then 2 times a week! and not on the same days!
The idea of this scheme is to suprise everyone, and if you do this too much with the same glyphs on the same days, everyone will know and you’ll end up in loss.
A fortune starts with one copper!
EDIT: oh my disclaimer was fubar!
For those that are tired of the same ways of making money. For those that want something completely else to do, for those that want something different.
How to make gold in a boring, suicidal, ludicrous or other way, this new installment will hopefully cheer you all up with prospects in the future!
Today: Old sKool Raiding!
Yes raiding lvl60 and 70 content, though for different reasons.
lvl60 raids and dungeons drop parts of the first ever made dungeon set and 3 of those (waist, hand and wrists) are BoE, now I know what you are thinking, but seriously they sell! and they sell for about 50-100G a piece, if you are lucky and run MC with 2-4 guys (3 is the best tbh, 2 makes some mechanics finicky) you can get dungeon set 2-3 wrists/belt. that was the first EPIC set and the wrists and belt again are BoE these sell for about 100-200G a pop. Now include this with about 100G you get from the raid itself + another 100G for core of earth, hearth of fires etc. and you get between 250 and 500G for a run of an hour, This isn’t the “best” way to make money but it is fun! if you want some old gear for your self (I got my full dungeon 1 set on my hunter) or want to get an achievement or just want some fun, this is a good way to make an extra buck
lvl70 dungeons/raids are yet again a bit different. These drop a lot of blue/epic BoP items so money doesn’t come from them, but the bosses drop about the double amount of gold, a lot of greens on trash and some misc’s all around. The money is about 200G if you are running with more 4 guys, about 250 when you run with 3.
Other reasons to run this content is to get some really really easy reputation. If you want to complete your skillbook this is another reason to run these things. (Don’t forget that those patterns etc, can make you money if your lucky) Or do you want a new mount? go for the impossible drops and get a phoenix, a horse, a raptor etc etc…
As said the money isn’t all that, but it still makes you a nice buck, and is guaranteed to push your skills if you only take a min. of persons.
So if you want some gold, some fun, some skill testing, some “bonding” in the guild/friends, suicidal runs (your a lvl60 running with 2 lvl80 guildies) or just want to tag along while bored. this is the place to go.
I’ll see you next week ready to go again!
Seth,
A fortune starts with ONE and only ONE copper!
first off all before you start listening: 1 – This is being recorded with a fairly bad mic, a better one will be bought if the podcast is to your liking. 2- In the podcast you’ll hear me say sheep, I listened to the podcast again and I thought it came out as cheap, so trust me if I say it’s meant as SHEEP. 3- any comments or ideas are more then welcome as long as they are constructive. 4- I was very very very nervous so be gentle. You’ll probably hear it in the beginning and a little lest at the end, so be sure to give me info about that. 5- this podcast isn’t downloadable at this point. I want to see how the reactions are before pumping money into a site.
Today i saw Qü again, i hate that fellow… he makes a living by undercutting me. This though reminded me that i haven’t updated the blog today, and give me a todays tip right in my head.
If you see a fellow auctioneer/banker. add him to your friends list. and put up a note (i use notesuneed for this, but blizz’s note is sufficient.) Mostly you can see the serious fellow bankers from a mile away… dressed out in tuxedo’s or dresses. But why would i do this you ask? Well it has a couple of advantages: you can see when they are online. (for example: if your seeing 10orso online, wait with posting and buy stuff since they ussually lower the price) You can use the general search to search by name. so just have a look at those bankers in your friends tab, and see if they have some low priced mats on it (this is ussually true sunday eve and monday -since they want to get rid of their maths) or to just have a look at what they are doing. (for example: if you see 2-3 bankers posting lets say borean leather dont post it right now, they are competing and probably overflowing the market!). You’ll also get an idea of when to bid, no other bankers online = Bid now! bid bid bid! ^^
Hey all, my sec video is comming up! It’s a quick review of the indepth config of Auctioneer, sorry about the low quality but i have a max upload of 100MB here on blogspot.com
Edit: oh my god… i hate my own voice and was waaay to nervous. If anyone wants it changed, just leave a comment
I had a slow day yesterday, only made 100G and a couple of vendors (I still can’t believe someone can be so stupid or ignorant!… check the vendor price first!) But with Help of Markco and his guide, i’m going to do something new! (or atleast i’m going to do it at a bigger extent/market) Right now all my income is comming in as, as we call it “Shotgun bursts” I buy something up if its low priced and resell it. ex. Nesingwary 4000 and combat plated shotgun. bought for 200G under value and resell it. Boom, Boom, 2x 200G profit. then its quiet for two days (getting an average of 100G profit a day (+/- 500G incomming that is). Boom! 5 frostweave bags sold (5x15G profit) – Extra profit i mean. So extra profit is nice and shotgun bursts work nice, for the first 2K orso… But now i need some extra streaming profit. So i’m going with commoditie selling. probably low lvl(1-60) ores/herbs and mid-endlvl(60-80) leather. It’ll be a big risk (draining all my money steadily before i can get my cashflow rolling but i have trust that this will work. (hopefully…please?) So i’ll let you know in the following days how i’m doing. and what I’m selling.
Grtz
don’t forget, you guys can still ask me for a video for what you think is worth showing!
So went to 2.5K and back down to 1.7K (in pockets i mean) i bought a cheap nesingway 4000 (500G) and am selling it for 544g at ah. (small proffit) and i bought a couple of frostweave bags (x4 at 70G and 3 at 66G) from a tailor. selling them now for 79G a piece at AH (2 already sold)
Now with that tailor i got a trade aggreement: she’s selling me the bags, for 70G (max price) 3 bags a week. why am i doing this? why i get to sell them for 79G! well why is she selling only for 70G then? biggest reason: she knows she can sell them, she doesn’t need to worry when to sell, if they will sell, and to what cost. (and shes still getting skill points for it) so its double proffit, and a trade agreement, she’s selling to me and not at the AH, which is one less competitor.
on another note, there is a nice discussion going on at Skrooge about moral’s so take a look there if ya want
