Ah, My Co-host Coffelord asked this question on the podcast and it seems that we are not the only ones asking that to ourselves.
Anaalius asked himself the question too and hits the mark with his latest post.
The same goes for Cold with his post on why he makes gold.
And last but not least my blogsphere buddy Zekta awnsered the question with flair! Have a look at his post!
Though we all have different yet similar reasons to make gold in the game, we are compelled by the Auction house, it’s our mistress. The thing that can smack us in the head when we make a wrong buy or love us gently when we claim our gold.
Have you awnsered the Question yet? If not, here’s your chance! send me a mail at seth.onecopper AT gmail DOT com with a post, or just link your thoughts right here in the comments!
Auctioneering is not just music it’s a way of life!… oh wait that’s something else…
carry on…
Edit: McRaffles has also written a post containing his urge to make gold, as an extra he gave a fair and very well written review of our podcast. Thank you McRaffles!

I’ve been playing “a lot” of DDO lately, After Eve, WoW and FE I can say that DDO probably has the most inflated economy of them all, and EVE probably has the most extensive one.
What I can see though is that due to the lack of addons it’s easier to make money, yes I said it: EASIER.
The problem on WoW is that a lot of ppl use auctioneer, so a lot of sheep (dumb ppl) can see the prices by unit by percentage by what ever. Without the addons certain scams (selling 100 arrows instead of 1000) would be a lot easier. You could make a boatload of gold before the masses learn to read.
If we would lack the addons to clear our bags, to filter them, to post them etc. etc. the real bankers would have an easier time, back in Vanilla this was the case, I had 5000G and that was by far 10x as much as the others, I was probably the only banker on my server, because it took time, patience and a lot of “insight”.
The addons make our lives easier, but at the same time they hurt us.
How do you stand on them? Would you prefer to get rid of them and make more money the hard way? or would you like to keep them and let the rest of the wannabes meddle with our gold?
Discuss!

schizophrenia is a new biweekly or monthly post that tries to encourage discussion here on this blog, and on the blogsphere. If you have anything to say about the topic, leave a comment or put up a post on your own blog. (I’ll be glad to link it!)
To make a long story short, I had over 500 words already written, sadly enough pc crashed and well, yeah…
I hate being popular. I don’t mean the blog, seriously I love that you are reading this, still reading? Ok. I hate being popular on my server. Somebody found out I had over 100K and now it seems half the Alliance side is whispering my bankalt “gold pl0x”. Usually my answer is pretty simple: “go to one-copper.com for free tips & tricks on how to make gold in WoW. Now with a 1-80 Gold guide”.
Yet people are stupid and lazy.
“A person is smart, people are dumb. ”
-(Look it up who said that)
So I got my 140K (after selling everything) and transferred my little peewee lvl11 bank alt to another server, so he can stay there in peace, waiting for my main’s when I’m transferring servers.
This means though that I’m left with 3 level 80s, no farming professions and a mere 5K gold… Sounds interesting for the blog right?
Being popular is always great when you get good attention (yesterdays post, intelligent whispers, comments) but it’s a nightmare when you get the flip side of it. (GGGG PL0X, trolls)
It’s wonderful if you see that you inspire, 500 people each day (or at least give them something to read) and it’s annoying when you have to delete troll comments.
So here we are at the brink of discussion…
Has being a “popular” (Not saying I am, cause I’m not, but maybe you are) blogger had any impact on your “WoW-life”, and if so a good one? or a bad one? Has it affected your gold making schemes? (I’m getting a lot of resistance from a “cartel” thats trying to bankrupt me, too bad they were losing)
Write something up and let us know! I’m dieing to see your point of view on this!
PS: B2B guide coming later this week!

Normally I’m not in the speculating game. I focus on what’s happening now.
Yet Cataclysm is a big enough change to start thinking about it.
So my predictions for Cataclysm:
1: everything lvl 30+ is going to drop in price. If people going to buy scrolls for enchanting etc, its going to happen 1 week before cata hits or when they hit 85.
2: every low level material is going to rise a bit. Since there are going to be a lot of people who are going to roll Worgen/goblin instead of lvl to 85.
3: lvl85 crafted gear is going to be expensive for the first 4weeks. (read: 500%+ of real value)
4: gathered “stuff” is going to be expensive for the first 2weeks. (read 250%+ of real value)
Those are my predictions for Cataclysm. And sadly enough I’m going to pay for it… My lvl 80′s professions are: JC/ENCH, TAIL/ENG, LW/INSC…
NO “farmers” which means that leveling these proffesions will be a pain in the ass… big time. So what am I doing right now? I’m leveling my herbalism/skinning druid (lvl6) and my herbalism/Alchemist warrior (lvl49) to 80 to share some of the pain. I would consider doing the same and lvling those chars to lvl85 first.
So my things to do when cata hits:
1: Get realm first on my shaman. Seriously…it would bring pride and members to TSB. (my raiding guild)
2: get all proffesions to 450 as quickly and cheaply as possible.
3: ???
4: PROFIT!
5: get my Female dranei Shaman to a male dwarf… I hate playing females, but it’s still better then having a squid on my face.
6: get everyone to 85.
7: roll a worgen
8: !?!?!
9: MORE PROFIT!
If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m not in my normal doing… Somebody has it out for me. My hand healed, and now I have a 38.5°C fever…
I’m sorry if you’d noticed.
What are your thoughts of Cataclysm? What are your goals? and what are your predictions?

I played a little on my Warlock yesterday went from 63 to 64 and got some nice worldpvp kills… The first guy that said Death knights are overpowered should think twice before saying that… I slaughtered a couple, a couple of times *evil grin*
What hit me though is that WoW actually doesn’t appeal to me anymore as it used to be, if we look back to the early beta untill now soo much has changed it’s unbelievable that it’s still the same game.
Warlocks went from pvp ownage to sissy’s and back again. 40 mans don’t exist anymore, 3h dungeons don’t exist anymore, you can lvl 3 different ways and gaia can sue your Tauren at lvl20 now when he rides a hawkstrider. And most of the changes are good, most of the changes make life easier, yet some changes like the massive 5mans and 40mans were sad, we don’t really miss them. For every “bad” change there were 5 good ones, and the future holds even more and better changes.
Yet there is ONE thing that blizzard has forgotten, and that “thing” is actually the reason why you read this blog. GOLD, or at least the “gold-making game”.
In the last years, not much has changed, the Auction houses were linked together and the amount of money earned in the wild grew larger and larger. yet the prices of everything stayed pretty much the same. With the exception of the money sinks, like mounts, riding skills and dualspec. And even those are lowered.
The money game doesn’t change for us, every expansion it’s the same thing. Yes with new items, but basically it stays the same ole’ game.
You buy some, you sell some, and thadaaaa profit. You farm some, you craft some and thadaaa profit…
The economy is made by players and they stick to the same “strategy” because it works, and be honest, the economy in WoW doesn’t have much leeway. All the crafted items are the same quality and quantity. (how much you can farm/buy). One out of ten playes has the same skill as you, and one out of 100 sell their items on the AH, the exact same item on the exact same place at the exact same time (read: 99% of always) for almost the exact same price.
Personally I think it’s time to step it up, make different qualities items with more procs or skill lvl advantages. I don’t care what else, just make it different, make it better and more extensive!
In other words,
Blizzard Improve our game too!
FYI:
If the reaction is good on this post, this will be part of a contest this friday. (lootcards as price!)

My thoughts go out to the Back to Basics Guide that I’m writing, I’m asking myself Is it usefull? Is it something that people need?
I have no idea if it is. No Idea.
What I do know is that A lot of people had enough of gold blogs. or at least mine. My 500 readers dropped to 250 in the last weeks. I have no idea why this is happening. I do know that the links aren’t coming as they used too. I know that WoW.com is still ignoring every goldblogger on the blogsphere. And I know that the “competition” has thinned out a lot…
Zekta, isn’t posting much anymore, Sarainy has stopped posting (for now) and a lot of the small blogs have dissapeared.
What is this turn around of events? Are the people tired of money? Were they sheeps in disguises? Did we say all that there was to say?
Did they Quit WoW? This could be since the bloggers which I “hang around” with, are all playing much less atm. And shifted from the “social sick” WoW to EVE.
So my Deep thoughts is a discussion…
Why do you think readers are shying away from this blog?
Yes this is actually a free ticket to bash the blog and me… as long as it is usefull… nothing like “u suck”, all comments should be like, ” u suck because blabla”.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation

Yes I’m late with my “insightful” thoughts. But I really wanted to get the first chapter of the back to basics guide posted on the blog.
My thoughts this week go to the “money-making scam” that is called Christmas… oh boy I’m going to get hatemail for this.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Christmas, I participate and buy gifts for the family, yet I recognize what it is.
Christmas is actually the feast of white. It is a “pagan” tradition of my ancestors, the Kelts and later the “Germanen”. The birth of Christmas was in the Beginning of December not at the end. Now the Church and all its power couldn’t shun out this tradition so they merged the two together, which eventually worked, and we all forgot about the original feast. (look at easter and halloween too and the real meaning of those, and not the choclate, and treats you get now fe.)
I love the feasts, since it’s an excuse to spend time with the family and eat well. Yet As the 16th (ish) century went to the 18th-19th century the holidays went commercial. This has been happening for ages and still does.
(fe. Halloween a traditional English holliday was forgotten untill a few years ago, now all the kids go trick or treating in Belgium. When I was their age that didn’t exist, we didn’t know what it was.. and thats not even 10years ago! since I’m *only* 21, the same for valentines day)
Which makes it worse is that we also celebrate “Sinterklaas” wrongly translated Santa Claus, since Sinterklaas is actually Sint Maarten (helped the poor in Spain) And on the 6th of December the kids get a big gift from “him” (the parents), then everybody buys presents again and we open them up at Xmas eve, and the 1st the children read their New Years Letter and get some money from the grandparents….
You see how the industry commercialized almost every holiday?
It is a fact that a lot of people forgot. It is something that I’m aware of but pay no heed to, since Family is priceless.
My point here is that if you want to get rich or make a buck, find a holiday that is celebrated and yet not commercialized, then commercialize it and watch the money come after a few years.
Which makes this even more peculiar though is that almost everybody celebrates Christmas in the Western World. the self-proclaimed Atheist still celebrates Xmas… the people who grew up in a “Christian” environment (take the term very loosely) and changed believes when they could, still celebrate Christmas.
Because most of us, forgotten the true meaning of it, and I’m sorry to say but as corrupting as the Church can be, I’m happy for it.
Christmas is all about family, no matter what religion, what standard or what color of skin. It is the one day a year where I forgive people from being Sheeps, being M&S.
And you should too,
Go home to your family and enjoy, battle the lowlifes and the cruel – for it is- world again on Monday, but for now…
Happy Christmas!

I got this great question asked to me Saturday.
“if you are against socials, why do you blog? since blogging is sociall?”
Now this is true blogging, or at least blogging for your readers = social. But there is more to blogging, or at least my blogging.
There is a quite simple explanation that is important enough for me to write about:
If I blog, and I have about 1000 readers a day. (250 over feed, 750 visiting the site) that are a possible 1000 people that will shed from the social and leeching life. with every post I write, I have a chance to make the group of sheep (M&S) smaller. which that I’m actually not paying for them anymore.
To make my ramble a bit clear, I blog to stop the social, sheepish and M&S movement. I blog so “Goblins” can make gold over the sheep’s back. I blog in the hope that somebody, anybody, sees the error in their non-employed life. etc etc.
Seth, leeching the sheeps since 1988.
Don’t let the Sheep cost you, make money on them! Shed your sheepskin and join the Wolfpack of Goblins, read One-copper.com!
omg… I’m really going to stop here, Fever ain’t good for writing.
grtz

Whoa… Never thought that so many people would do what I do, yesterday I asked what you guys would do, and most of you would (ofc like me) exploit “the sheep”.
A sheep you know in RL even… gave me a startle and a bit of hope is regained for the human race.
Now deep thoughts isn’t going to be a big thing this week, since WoW time = 0 for the last week I don’t have too much to say.
Later this week:
Tomorrow = The WAR post
Friday: Podcast + tip post
this Weekend: WoW midnight junky review
And a Question here:
If there is one thing you could change/better in the podcast: what would it be?
leave a comment and hopefully we’ll get it changed!
grtz
