Monday Morning Hangover: Question Time!

Tags: , , , ,

In the last 3 weeks orso I have been getting a lot of questions about professions. Today I’ll be awnsering the common ones for the broader public.

What are the best money making professions?

Tbh… everything. You can make money with everything. There are a couple ones that are better ofcourse. Tailoring/enchanting works really well, so does mining/JC, skinning/LW, herb/inscription. The best thing is to take one crafter, one gather proffesion untill lvl80 and make the things that give you a good (though slow) profit. Lill’ sparkys workshop can work wonders for that. Once your lvl80, work your way up to 420+ on the crafting prof. and drop the gather one. take up insc, jc or ench and start lvling it with the profit made from lvling it. once that is up to 400+ you’ll make triple money. proffesions that make good money from best to worst: JC, Ench, Ins, LW, Tailoring, mining, herb, skin, alch, BS, Eng.

Should I drop my gathering proffesion for a crafting one?

really depends, I would say yes but only if your first crafing is above 420. AND you have a nice stockpile of good/gold to lvl it further.

Should I take 2 gather professions while lvling?

Nothing wrong with that! I just don’t do it, because I don’t like to spend too much time on the side while questing/dungeoning. Yes, yes crafting takes time too. I usually gather all my mats, and after 10 lvls i go and use them all in one trek to lvl my crafting one. (while I’m afk watching some anime…hey that rhymes!..ahum)

What about engineering?

Engineering has some things that make money (bullets/arrows, bronze tubes for allaince, overcharged cap..) but most of the time it’s just fun, explosive and helpfull. My warlock has Engineering and he’s a walking timebom. Damiän is gearing for pvp, and the cloacks, rocket hands, bombs, etc make it easy to suprise my enemy’s and kick some ass. Also the mailbox and wherever you want auctioneer == great utility for bankers.

Thats it for todays questions, if you have more send them to seth.onecopper@gmail.com, twitter them or post them as a comment!

few… the alcohol ain’t out of my system yet and I’m already posting again… It’s that EARLY!!! (5 in the morning)

Now I promised you some posts last week… yet they didn’t make it to the blog.
The reason behind that is pretty simple: I lost my internet connection from Thursday until Saturday(!!!)
If that wasn’t bad enough, the roads were blocked by snow and ice, so I couldn’t get anywhere except to work and back. Something that takes 30mins. took me 4h(!) and Belgium was dozed for the third time this year with too much snow for our own good. Don’t get me wrong, since we haven’t seen a decent amount of snow for the last 10years this is a good change… but enough is enough… seriously.

So my weekend, consisted mostly of a FAIL tournament of MTG (my first ever!), some WoW, a lot of bioshock 2 and ofcourse, pleasing the wife.
Now before you say anything… I’m against Valentine, I don’t need a special day to let my girl know that I love her. She hears that plenty of times a day, gets multiple presents a year and is treated as loyalty 24/7. Sadly enough my girl does celebrate Valentine and if I don’t get her something, while she gets me something, you’ll see a dead man walking around in Dragonblight…
Oh God it’s been more then a week ago since I last opened my C++ book… Well let’s get started at that while I wait at work….
bb

Did you get a lot of gaming in this weekend? Or did you spend most of your time celebrating “Valentines Day”.

Hang-over: Start a new

Few… It feels like forever since I’ve last been here (on this page writing a post)…
And tbh It is. Not only have I been a terrible poster in January, my heart wasn’t in it as well. For better or for worse though, thats going to change.

Starting 23th of Feb. (The Spirit Blade) is making a comeback on Ravenholdt-EU. I’m getting /W of all the old guildmembers, that they badly need TSB again. That + the fact that I actually have time again, and that my former officer and rl friend can free up some time too gave us the courage to start again.

Soooo… the blog is getting a fresh start, the guild is starting again and well happy thoughts all around!

On the gaming front:
Warlock lvl78… I <3 and Hate him at the same time. I can dish out 2+K dps on trash and about 1.8K on bosses. Sadly enough it's impossible to punsh it out in a dungeon. I don't know what is wrong with the tanks these days, or if it's just affli but I seem to get "AGGRO" -- flashy flashy red borders... -- all over my screen after the 2nd SoC explodes. In pvp it's just awesome. dotting everyone up while running, if I see 2+ I pop my shield SoC 2, DC 1 (5K life back), and UA if I'm still standing. Yes I die - a lot. But the moment I rez it's "Killing Blow" x3-5 times. And that ladys and gentlemen puts a giant, wicked smile on my face.
I stopped my subscription for STO already, it's good but it's no match for EVE or WoW. EVE's economic and pvp system surpass STO by a mile, while WoW does the same for everything else. It isn't a bad game, but it isn't "great" either. Sorry but byebye!
I started MGT (Magic: The Gathering) and are planning to pursue that a bit further AND qualify for the PROtour. Which means I have to end up in the top 64 in Belgiums GrandPrix. (wish me luck).

Personal notes:
Lot of work… Lot of studying.
But… IM GOING TO JAPAN!!!!!!
Seriously in September I leave on a 1month trip to Japan.. can’t wait to go there!

Well that’s it for today. I hope you have enjoyed the post, and join me again on this wonderful trip that’s called WoW

Hang-Over: I’m listed!

You probably noticed I took a week off blogging. While it wasn’t deliberate, it did really good. I thought about the blog, and thought about it plenty…
Thought about it so much even, that my mind went back again to “the point”.
The point being: is it still viable to have this blog up? Do you still gain something from reading the blog. Luckily for me, it seems you, or others like you do.

Shayline (TSB!) won the match, since she downloaded an app for the iphone that displays wow-gold blogs, in which I’m ilsted. Better yet even, I’m one of the more popular ones, which must means that I have something to say worthwile, or at least, that people enjoy reading this blog.

Now I also have to tell you that I will skipp the Auctioneer chapter of B2B another week. My work schedule is very very hectic, and my studying is eating a lot of time. And I want to spend my precious free moments with my GF, when possible or actually playing WoW. (Warlock lvl74 … almost there!)

I don’t know if there are any programmers reading this blog, but there will be a seperate link soon to a second blog of mine, talking about C++, or better said the road from “noob” to programmer in C++. The link isn’t up yet since I want to have a couple of posts up before I share it.

Coining gold is also going fairly good, I actually started making gold again, I stopped a couple of weeks ago at 100K (I always stop at 100K no point of getting more) and dropped back to 90K this friday. (dualspec + epic mount + gear + dualspec for my warrior). Yesterday I was back at 95K(!)

What did I do?
- Well first off I still had about 500 glyphs and half of them sold = +/- 1000Gold
- Got 80k honor on my hunter + 70ish on my shaman: got 15 epic gems and sold them for 200G a pop: 3K gold
- Sold a flying carpet to a sheep for 400Gold (laughed my ass off, and I really should have screen shotted it)
- 600G (ish) in reselling… (cloth, ore, leather, meat, etc)

Oh well thats it for today, I’m back, And I hope you like it!

Hang-over produces Deep thoughts: Changes to the money game

Tags: ,

I played a little on my Warlock yesterday went from 63 to 64 and got some nice worldpvp kills… The first guy that said Death knights are overpowered should think twice before saying that… I slaughtered a couple, a couple of times *evil grin*

What hit me though is that WoW actually doesn’t appeal to me anymore as it used to be, if we look back to the early beta untill now soo much has changed it’s unbelievable that it’s still the same game.
Warlocks went from pvp ownage to sissy’s and back again. 40 mans don’t exist anymore, 3h dungeons don’t exist anymore, you can lvl 3 different ways and gaia can sue your Tauren at lvl20 now when he rides a hawkstrider. And most of the changes are good, most of the changes make life easier, yet some changes like the massive 5mans and 40mans were sad, we don’t really miss them. For every “bad” change there were 5 good ones, and the future holds even more and better changes.

Yet there is ONE thing that blizzard has forgotten, and that “thing” is actually the reason why you read this blog. GOLD, or at least the “gold-making game”.

In the last years, not much has changed, the Auction houses were linked together and the amount of money earned in the wild grew larger and larger. yet the prices of everything stayed pretty much the same. With the exception of the money sinks, like mounts, riding skills and dualspec. And even those are lowered.
The money game doesn’t change for us, every expansion it’s the same thing. Yes with new items, but basically it stays the same ole’ game.
You buy some, you sell some, and thadaaaa profit. You farm some, you craft some and thadaaa profit…

The economy is made by players and they stick to the same “strategy” because it works, and be honest, the economy in WoW doesn’t have much leeway. All the crafted items are the same quality and quantity. (how much you can farm/buy). One out of ten playes has the same skill as you, and one out of 100 sell their items on the AH, the exact same item on the exact same place at the exact same time (read: 99% of always) for almost the exact same price.

Personally I think it’s time to step it up, make different qualities items with more procs or skill lvl advantages. I don’t care what else, just make it different, make it better and more extensive!

In other words,
Blizzard Improve our game too!

FYI:
If the reaction is good on this post, this will be part of a contest this friday. (lootcards as price!)

Hang-over: Correction

Tags:

A lot of people think that the last post was to defend my own blog. I am sorry if I came over that way.
The post was not to defend my blog, or rant about not being linked.

The post was to share my own views on the matter. that there is no “good” and “bad” in blogging except for your own relative view. As a comment pointed out my “English is piss poor” since English isn’t my native language, and it’s presumably his, I don’t really see a problem.. He will probably hate reading this blog, while others like me (not a native English speaker) will have very few problems with it.
This is the same reason why I used the “crude and rude” example, the goblin mindset, probably doesn’t care what example I’m using as long as I don’t go and use names or attack people personally, As long as I get the point across. Children and upstuck people will ofcourse be offended, yet as this is *my* blog, I can write what ever is relative to me.
The point of the post was with other words to let you see that this all, the blogsphere, wow and what ever else happens in your life, is relative to your own world. How small or large, not everyone probably not even 1% of the world will have the same views. Everything is relative to the person, posting or reading a post/blog.

This was my way of putting my own thoughts, how relative small or big, out on to the world.

Hang-Over: “the new generation”

Tags:

I was looking around on the blogsphere yesterday and stumbled upon something interresting.
somebody said: ” the old hands are tired and new goldbloggers step in and are doing it better” well thats laughable….
First off, the person who said it was “new” as in not blogging a month. So I conclude that I am an “old hand”.
Now I’m not saying I’m good… but I’m not the worst out here. (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this)

90% of the new bloggers quit within the first month. 75% of those 10% that are left quit withing the first 3 months, meaning that actually let’s say 1 stays blogging. (pure goldbloggers)
And we know that they are “good” or at least are not bad, are readable.

What is “old”, what is “good”, what is “better”?
All that the writer wrote was subjectif. I concider myself better then some and worse then most. Does that mean it is true? HELLL NO!
Is it the amount of people that read our website? Yes and No. My links are non-existent. I mean that If I get linked once a month by a small blog I should be happy. I’m listed at sites that get 500 people a month, the same amount of people I get a day. Excluding Gevlon, I never got linked on a website that had more readers then me. Which in turn means that I have less readers then a total Moron that starts listing and linking on every possible site. In that case I’m just as good or better while having less readers then the “bad” blog.
What is good and what is bad? Is it subjective? Is it measurable?

It is relative. Everything in the whole world is relative, so is rich and poor, old and young even a date, measures, EVERYTHING is relative.

Take this blog for example. I’m good enough to be read, yet WoW.com has never ever ever linked me, and yes people have asked them, when B2B came out even I asked them. Yet they don’t respond. When I started out I was good enough though to be linked by Zekta, Gevlon and several others. Yet again not “good” enough for marcko… voila, good = relative.
You still don’t believe me?

Cruel and 16+ example.
A dick of 10cm is small for most, while huge for others. A guy with a small penis will think his is still the right size while others would laugh at him with his small thing. hmm that’s a weird example…
Oh well it’s a good one, one that everyone knows.

My personal opinion is that this “old-hand” is “good” enough to be read, “better” even then most new ones, worst then most old ones.

Since this is the hang-over this is a heavy thought for a monday, yet think about it, and let me know what you think about it.

Monday morning Hang-over: CoD:MW2 + slow lvling + EVE = baaaad

My WoW time this weekend (thursday eve – sunday eve) = 1h….

4 yes FOUR christmas parties, is too much for any man to handle, my WoW time was restricted, and was even worse now that I have bought CoD: MW2 and playing EVE again…
A 38.5 degree fever and work ofcourse doesn’t help.

This all just to say: I am sorry but I haven’t had a lot to do with WoW this weekend.

My “readers recommendation” is very short this week:
Dark Legacy comics one of the better wow comics out there!

That’s it.. All the rest worth mentioning is on the blogroll already.
There is a serious lapse of Gold making blogs (or at least good ones- not claiming to be one of those) and so I’m not going to link a bad one.

I am going to ask you, the reader, though what is the best goldmaking blog you ever read? Leave a comment with the link under the post and let others read and maybe judge it.
If you are a blog writer, link your blog and generate a bit of traffic.
Until tomorrow,
Seth

Monday morning hang-over: FCK this SHT!

God, I had the most wonderful weekend…
My laptop broke.. oooh yeah it went, shiny sparkles and died. Sooo what did I do? I used my Iphone to live record a podcast. Along with my girl!

Tonight I will finalize it (music intermissions and upload it, tomorrow there will be a written version of it online.

Hope you can wait a bit!

So let’s discuss here for a moment, since we are all waiting for the podcast (I know I am)…

What do you think about patch 3.3?
Any good gold making ideas?
Any complaints?

My personal view on the matter: I love the lfg random tool, and I hate the quest bugs… especially for my alt (warlock) who can’t complete half the quests in hellfire since it receives

a copper for your thoughts!

Oooh God, where to begin!?

First things first: YES there is a podcast comming THIS week, I’m  promising you guys and I’m not going to post pone it. I even  took half a day  off to edit and push the content this week. so thats good news right?

Whiteline

The weekend was crazy I went to Eurodisney with my gf and ppl from work  It really is nice, if you have the time and money (cause its rather expensive in there) you should really go there, with kids that are at least 1m35 :P so they also can take the rollercoasters etc…

Eve… my secret lover… I’m subscribing at the end of my trial. It’s so much  more complicated as WoW for a goblin, it’s also the perfect  environment for a goblin. It’s going to be great! Don’t worry This is staying a WoW goldmaking website. Not going to change that, but Eve is something i had to mention. If you want a realy goldmaking challenge try it out, and do the 14day free trial, but thats the last thing I’m saying about eve on the blog.

Whiteline

Now and this is important: one of my FAVORITE blogs is back in business! the Midnight WoW junky!!! Money making, farming, guildposts it’s all there! Easy to read and great content! A post is comming about Coffelords blog a bit later this week but Go and check it out in the meantime, you’ll like it! Also give him a Shout on twitter.

PS: Sarainy you are getting that shout out you asked :-)

Thats It for this post more later on.
